Lenovo, the world's number one PC vendor by shipments, has appointed Aymar de Lencquesaing as president to head up its business in EMEA, while Gianfranco Lanci has been promoted to chief operating officer and executive vice president of Lenovo.

Lenovo said the management changes come as part of a global reorganisation that forms Lenovo into four distinct business groups in order to capitalise on the strong business momentum it's experiencing and opportunities it sees for further growth across the smart connected device (SCD) spectrum.

Under the new structure, Lenovo has organised the in four different divisions and they include the PC Business Group(comprising all Lenovo and Think brands and headed up by Lanci), Mobile Business Group (consisting of smartphones, tablet and smart TVs), Enterprise Business Group (made up of servers and storage) and Ecosystem and Cloud services (covering opportunities across both Android and Windows).

Yang Yuanqing Lenovo chairman and CEO said: "We are in the most exciting phase of our history so far, outperforming the market quarter after quarter, delivering consistent growth in our core PC business globally and positioning ourselves to become a significant player in both the enterprise and mobility spaces. Our strong results in EMEA are key to our global success. I congratulate Gianfranco on what he has achieved in EMEA so far and welcome Aymar to build our business in its next phase of growth."

Lanci added: "When I joined Lenovo in 2012, I set out an ambition for the company to become a top three PC player in EMEA by 2013. We outperformed that significantly by becoming number two in EMEA last year with 15.3% market share.  The next phase of our growth is about anticipating the next set of opportunities for our company and ensuring we have the right organisation in place to help us be faster; more focused, and more efficient in providing innovative products and services to an incredibly diverse market. I am confident that Aymar will lead our EMEA business into the next phase of growth that will take us beyond PCs and tablets and more widely accelerate the server and smartphone opportunity."

De Lencquesaing continued: "Whilst Gianfranco has built Lenovo to be the second largest PC company in EMEA, there are still immense opportunities to grow further. My ambition is of course that we build on that foundation and become the number one PC company in EMEA. Our focus is beyond PCs to the PC plus and smart connected device landscape and we have established a strong foundation already in smartphones in a number of markets in EMEA and will continue to expand over the coming year."
