Consumer storage vendor WD this week announced the availability of its My Passport Slim line of portable drives, which it claims are "the first super-slim drives to offer up to 2TB capacity, a metal enclosure, and 256-bit hardware-based encryption".
Available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, the My Passport Slim measures 4.33 x 3.14 x 0.48-inches.
"Consumers are creating unprecedented amounts of digital content today and demand solutions that fully address their digital requirements," said Khalid Wani, sales director, Branded Business, Middle East, Africa and India, WD.
"With up to 2TB of storage, hardware encryption, and WD's SmartWare Pro backup software, WD's chic new My Passport Slim is the only storage device that today's mobile consumers will ever need to carry."
The included WD SmartWare Pro data protection software is designed to not only back up data to the portable drive, but to duplicate the backup to the user's Dropbox account. The software also lets consumers back up their Dropbox account to the My Passport Slim. The My Passport Slim also incorporates USB 3.0 connectivity.
My Passport Slim portable hard drives are available with 3-year limited warranty. The My Passport Slim 1TB has an RRP of $109, and the 2TB model is $177.
